Our History

The founders of ARTCLINE have a long history of successful transfer of medical inventions from the University-based research to industrial application.

The scientific basis is the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology of the University of Rostock from which recently the Center for Extracorporeal Organ Support (CEOS) has been established.

In 1997 two Start-Up companies were founded - Biopure GmbH and Teraklin GmbH - and later merged into the TERAKLIN AG. The liver support system MARS® developed at this department is now being marketed by GAMBRO AB. Currently MARS represents the leading liver support method worldwide.

Earlier research preparing the basis for the new sepsis therapy system ICE has been done in the CellTect GmbH and later in the TERAKLIN AG.

With the foundation of ARTCLINE in 2007 the new developments in the field of diagnosis and therapy of sepsis shall now be transferred into biotechnological and medical device products.
